Introduction To Dream Interpreting

Dreams can be scary and at times disturbing to your daily life. The unusual details may often shake our constitution making our only time of rest from our already hectic lives uneasy.

In truth is that our dreams are the only way that our subconscious mind can communicate with us, giving us clues to some of the hidden ways we betray our goals unknowingly. By analyzing dreams we can get a just a little closer to working out underlying barriers that prevent us from being the people that we want to be overcoming damaging patterns, insecurities, jealousy, our past fears and complete discord with our existance.

We, ourselves, can unlock the secret to shed some light on a real foreseeable future. Interpreting dreams correctly depends on your ability to:

1) Remember the dream and it's details.
2) Appropriately understand what the people and symbols represent in the dream.
3) Put all the pieces and possibilities together to understand the message you are receiving from your subconscious mind.

You must also keep in mind that dream symbols often have several different meanings, but in each dream you are only receiving one meaning for the symbol. Depending on your current situation, you must determine which one it may be. However, still consider the other meanings. The subconscious is always trying to find new ways of communicating with you. This is why often we will have dreams about recent activities. The mind has new information to translate it's message.

Keep a pad and pen by your bed, so as soon as you wake you can jot down any symbols or story flows you may remember. Saying things out loud my help to jog your memory further. The more you recall the dream, the clearer the series of events become. Try to recall every little detail you can. This will make the interpretation all the more easier for you.  This is the key to dream interpretation.

BELOW PLEASE MAKE SUGGESTIONS OF INTERPRETATIONS NOT ON THE LIST.

Loneliness

If you are feeling lonely in a dream it means that you feel abandoned by life. If you are lonely in the dream but not in the real world, you are disconnected from the world around you.

Where are you lonely?  Are you lonely at home?

If you're lonely at home it means that deep down inside you feel that the outside world has forsaken you even if you're not particularly lonely on a regular basis. This may be a deep down emotional feeling that is unrecognized until the problem becomes insurmountable.   However dreams allow us to intercept these feelings before they become so massive.

If you're lonely at  a place that is crowded it means that you are disconnected from others, disconnected to their experiences, and you seek some kind of common ground.

The best solution for loneliness in the real world can be to busy one's mind with activities such as hobbies, games and goals. But loneliness in the dream world can be overcome by reminding yourself that you're not alone, because in truth you are not alone you just haven't found your tribe yet.

If you are lonely in the dream world and it triggers fear then one must learn how to challenge that fear by spending more time alone in the real world.  By engaging with that fear, loneliness will no longer be associated with unpleasant dreams. You may even experience the byproduct of being more powerful when making decisions with whom you spend your time with.

Abandonment

Abandonment in a dream represents letting go of past feelings or hopes.  Your subconscious wants you to move on with your life from a mindset that keeps you from moving forward.

Use the rest of your dream to figure out what you are letting go of. Is someone abandoning you? Did you have a fantasy or expectation of them in real life?  Your subconscious is bad and communicating so it shows them abandoning you, but in actuality telling you to abandon the fantasy.  Abandon the fantasy. You are still holding on to the fantasy even if to the outside world you appear to be moving on.  Your subconscious wants you to let them go.  And do so, or the dream will re-occur.

If you thought you let go, but it is strange to have this dream, a tiny little part of you is still holding on and is expressing itself in your dream.

If you are abandoning something or someone, your dream is telling you the same as the later.  But in this case you know that you have work to do. You are letting go of the ideas or concepts you had of that thing in your life / you are letting go of the ideas or concepts that surrounds the person in your life… what they stand for in your life.

Your subconscious could also be telling you that you need to move on from an old frame of thought or belief system.

Start fresh and open your mind to different ideas.

In order to grow, you will need to adopt new beliefs.

Abduction / Kidnapping

This could mean one of two things.

1) You are afraid of something precious to you being taken away.
2) Something you have worked on is not going according to plan.

Who is being abducted?   You?  Someone you love?  Someone you don’t know?  Everyone else in your dream… even the “bad guys” represent a characteristic of yourself.  For instance your mother in the dream represents your motherly or nurturing instincts, even if you are male in real life.  A villain in your dream physically symbolizes your shadow self.

If you are being abducted, what from? Home? Your normal life?  Those are the things you fear you’ll lose in real life.

Remember, this is just a fear.  In reality you are actually safe and your subconscious knows it.  It's only trying to scare you into taking proactive steps to empower your confidence.  Reduce your real life fears in order keep this kind of dream from reoccurring.  Easier said than done.

Emotions

There are no hidden meanings to emotions.  That is why it is so important to pay attention to the way different objects and people that appear in your dreams make you feel.  That is the doorway or insight into knowing the meanings of your dreams.

Crying or Tears

Crying is the expression of an emotion and emotions in dreams are usually just as they are.   There are no hidden meanings to emotions.

If you are crying in a dream, what are you feeling?  Are your tears of joy, despair, frustration, or fear?  This is what you are feeling under the surface of the real world.

If you witness someone crying, why are they crying?  Can you tell what they are feeling?  This represents your own feelings that you may not be giving consideration to.  It's not you in the dream because it is actually just a part of you with this emotion.  Other emotional points of view are more powerful.

Mask

When someone wears a mask over their face, they are concealing their identity... who they really are.  In the dreamworld a mask represents the concealment of truth... of what really is.

Who is wearing the mask?

If you are wearing the mask, your subconscious is showing you that you are presenting a falsehood to the world.

If someone else is wearing the mask, it is you still you who is wearing the mask that is untruthful to the world.

If everyone in your dream is wearing a mask and then unmasks, you are desiring a voluntary honesty.  If you are unmasking others, you want to get to the truth by force if you have to.

If your dream takes place in a masquerade ball, how do you feel?  If you are afraid, this indicates that you are afraid of the truth being unveiled.  If you are enjoying it, you are enjoying the mystery and indulging in the moment.

Remember, masks aren't real faces and eventually must come off.

Gems or Gemstones

Gems are precious.  They represent precious feelings or materials.  Which meaning it represents in your dream is determined by the details of the dream.

Are the gems in a ring?  That represents a relationship.

Is the gemstone in the ring gorgeous, did it change, or is it missing?  This represents the actual state of the relationship.

Are the gems a part of a treasure?  It represents wealth.  Your feelings toward the treasure and the context of the treasure in the dream indicates your attempts to deal with wealth in real life.

Ring or Circles

Rings are circles.  They represent the wholeness of something.  What kind of ring or circle is it?

Is it a wedding or engagement ring? This represents a relationship and it's wholeness in your life. This relationship may or may not be romantic, but it represents your desired loyalty. If this ring is actually a ring you own in real life, this represents the real-world connection to the ring such as a marriage, friendship, or lifestyle.

Is it damaged or lost? Is it beautiful and shinning brightly? This represents the actual state of the relationship in your subconscious mind.

Is the ring or circle a stain on something or drawn? This is a direct desire to be or preserve yourself as a whole human being.

If the ring or circle is broken, you feel deeply that you have some work ahead to make yourself whole.

Planets, suns and moons are circular. These represent your desire to seek wholeness out of your present lifestyle. Perhaps it is a fantasy because it is not set in this world, but it is a desire no less.

Jukebox

When you dream of a jukebox, you are dreaming of something that serves you.

If it is playing music, what kind of song is it playing?  If you like the music, you feel as if your plans in motion is serving you well.

If you dislike the music, your subconscious is showing you the need to tweak your plans and how you use the tools that you have in your arsenal.

If the jukebox is not playing music, old or damaged, your internal view of your plans in life are as such.  Your potential is there, but unused or discarded.

Invasion

Invasions represent the overtaking of fear within your own mind.

What is invading?

If you are planning an invasion with others, you are trying to take back control of your mental state… emotions.

If you are being invaded by people, it represents a closure to listen or hear out other points of view because you are afraid it will change you…  their ideas will overtake you.

If you are being invaded by something inhuman, it represents a fear of change or the unknown.

Office Building

If you dream of an office building in the distance or you see an office building in your dream this symbolizes your desire to bring order in your career or just representing the importance of career.

If your dream takes place in an office building, it symbolizes your active desires to pursue your career.

Are there any challenges?  This is what is getting in your way in real life.  If it is a person that is in your way, then it is a specific characteristic related to your own self that gets in your way.

Hugs

If you are hugging someone, you are making peace and feeling satisfied with a characteristic you bear of whomever you are hugging.  There is harmony there.

If you see others hugging, how do you feel about that?  Are you happy to see it?  There are two characteristics you have that you are proud of.  If you are jealous of what you see?  You are getting in the way of your own harmony with yourself.

Hate / Anger

If hate or anger is a feeling you feel in a dream, your subconscious is showing you that you are not in control of your emotions.

If someone else is hateful or angry, it represents latent feelings of insecurity.

If it is you who is being hated, this could denote a prevalent insecurity and fear of being hated for just being yourself and past unexplained rejection.

If you hate a twin or reflection, or if a reflection/ twin hates you, there is self-hatred present and your subconscious wants to confront you on the matter.  The mind cannot see a future with your current mindset.

If you see the word “hate” or any synonym written, is forewarns of a fear of your own loss of emotional control if you do not put some kind of way of dealing with it in place such as therapy or even talking things out to get these feelings off your chest before you blow your stack.

If there is someone you hate in the dream, you must figure out what common characteristics you have with that person.  This characteristic is at odds with your idea of who you really want to be.  Self change is demanded by your subconscious.

Car

Cars represent your vehicle along the path of life.

What is the car like?

The characteristics of the car represents the characteristics you have and are applying to get the things you truly want.  An old rusty slow jalopy means you're not doing your best.  A Mercedes Benz means you are doing your best. A race car means you are going at it hard and fast.

Where are you going?  It represents the reward you seek.

Are you alone?  You are independent.

Are you with others in the car?  They represent your characteristics you use to get what you want in life.

Are you the driver?  You are in control.

Is someone else driving?  You are not in control.

What are the other cars on the road doing?  Speeding ahead of you or are you leaving them in the dust?

Are you alone on the road?  You are going down a path most would not.

Abdomen or Stomach or Belly

The abdomen is the core. The core of your being.

This is also a sensitive area that gets, upset, rumbles, gets butterflies, and you also “can’t stomach” things.

Is the abdomen:
Upset = something you cannot accept.
Exposed unwillingly = vulnerability.
Swollen or pregnant = you have important things beneath the surface.
Sexy = you are proud of who you are to the core of your being.
Disgusts you = shame.

The things relevant to your feelings here is in relation to the other details of the dream. Like a puzzle, put the pieces together to discover the secret message your subconscious is communicating to you the best way it can. It’s up to you to translate the code.

Ultimately, how does seeing the abdomen in your dream make you feel? Is it sexy? Is it disgusting? Does it make you feel strong or weak? Is it the kind of stomach you want? Is it comical or makes you feel sentimental? These are all part of the message.

Was it lost or misplaced? Deep down inside you don't feel safe.  You feel as if your valuables will be lost to you.

Was it stolen in the dream? You fear someone will take your material property, wealth, or standing for their own.

It could also mean an insecurity about your identy. What specifically in the wallet makes you miss it? Is it money or your ID card. That particular thing is the very source of the insecurity.
