To dream of being on a subway or train in your dream represents the means to which you are or have in your power to choose to get to your desired goals or next destination in life. It is the vehicle. Trains also run on a track and a schedule, much like your daily routine and can be a symbol of it.
If the train is on land, your actions and path is in plain sight to everyone.
If the train is overhead, your actions and path are above everyone's scope. You may even be going above ranks... hence the term, "going above" someone's head.
If the train is underground, your actions and path will be more like a secret to those around you until you emerge from the underground or get off at the next stop. The stops represent the next big event in your life.
